BEER TENDER - 8one8 Brewing - Canoga Park, CA
8one8 Brewing is a family owned and operated brewery located in Canoga Park, CA. Founded in 2014 We began as homebrewers and converted the hobby into a business on a 3bbl brewhouse. With limited distribution and adding a tasting room in 2018 we’ve grown into a 10bbl brewhouse with 200 BBL’s of tank space.
We’re looking to increase our tasting room staff to support the demand of our on-site operations. Our Beer Tenders are critical members of our Team, whose responsibility it is to support and represent the 8one8 brand in the brewery tasting room. Our ideal candidate is attentive, motivated, hard-working AND passionate about craft beer. This is a part time hourly position (8-20 hours per week)
What we're looking for in a candidate:
has experience pouring, serving, and selling beer;
has an enthusiastic interest in, and knowledge of, craft beer;
has a strong work ethic and enjoys working as part of a unified team;
enjoys talking to people from all walks of life and communicates well;
has good energy, an outgoing attitude, and would be a positive representative of 8one8 Brewing;
has great customer service skills and enjoys engaging with visitors to our brewery;
has part-time availability to work on weeknights and weekends.
Serving Certifications or Beer cicerone is a plus!
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Pours tasters, pints, and growler fills.
Keeps tasting room clean and stocked.
Clearly communicates availability to supervisor on an ongoing basis.
Maintains familiarity with 8one8 products, product availability, and point-of-sale procedures.
Maintains familiarity with general beer and beer industry knowledge.
Maintains familiarity with 8one8 merchandise.
Assists patrons with 8one8 merchandise and packaged beer sales.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have a positive attitude.
Ethical and accurate operation of point-of-sale systems and cash-handling; familiarity with tablet use.
Familiar with how to accurately check IDs of patrons for legal drinking age and ID validity.
Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining legal, safety, and quality standards.
Self-motivated with good time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks at a time.
Maintains familiarity with liquor laws and responsible serving practices in CA.
Maintains familiarity of how to use and troubleshoot beer pouring equipment.
Ability to work well in a diverse team environment.
Ability to effectively communicate with team members.
Previous experience serving alcohol responsibly is preferred.
Physical ability to lift and move cases of beer and occasionally half kegs and sixtels.

Assistant Brewer / Cellar Position: 8one8 Brewing - Canoga Park, CA
8one8 Brewing is a family owned and operated brewery located in Canoga Park, CA. Founded in 2014, we began as homebrewers and converted the hobby into a business on a 3bbl brewhouse. With limited distribution and adding a tasting room in 2018, we’ve grown into a 10bbl brewhouse, commissioned our own canning line, implemented a water treatment and lagering program, and expanded our production capacity to 200 BBL’s of tank space.
Currently, we are looking for the next member of our production team at 8one8 Brewing. We are making great beer and looking for a motivated, hardworking, team oriented individual with at least 1 year of professional brewing/ cellaring experience to work and grow with us. If you are looking for a brewery to build a career with, we may be the perfect fit.
This position is responsible for the duties involved with the preparation, production, fermentation and all packaging of 8one8 beer. Ensure the proper cleaning and sanitizing of fermentation and conditioning tanks, as well as transferring beer from tank to tank. Also responsible for monitoring the fermentation of beer, the cooling of fermenting and conditioning beer, and carbonating beer to the correct level. Maintain a safe and clean work environment; this includes floors, outsides of tanks, parts, floor drains, filtration equipment, racks and containers.
Key responsibilities would include but not limit to:
Keg Washing and filling
Can and bottle packaging
Finished beer filtration/ tank transfers and understanding of pump functions and ballance lines
Basic brewhouse mechanical and plumbing operation
Warehousing, receiving malt and hops, and logging inventory
Safe operation of walk behind and ride on motorized forklifts
CIP/Sanitize/Passivation of fermentation, conditioning, and brewing vessels
Handling standard brewery caustics and acids safely with company specified PPE.
Cleaning & maintaining of cellar space, outsides of tanks, parts, drains, racks, floors, etc.
Carbonating, Dissolved Oxygen, and water mineral testing
Performing cell counts and proper yeast handling
Maintaining water tank levels and temperature
Inventory management and organization (grain, yeast, hops, kegs, packaged goods, etc)
Assisting with various production related tasks
Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
Minimum of one-year pro-brewery cellar or equivalent experience required
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
Solid computer skills, Computer proficiency (Word, Excel) preferred
General maintenance skills preferred
Good mechanical aptitude and understanding required
Ability to troubleshoot and effectively solve complex problems
Able to lift and carry at least 55 pounds all day
Able to work on feet for extended periods of time
Desire to work in a fast-paced, growing company
Reliable person consistent attendance record from former employers
REMINDER: At least 1 year of professional brewing/ cellaring experience
PAY: $20-22 per hour / Full Time

Responsibilities:

Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies and ingredients.
Ensure that food is cooked and presented in an appealing and appetizing manner.
Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all sanitation guidelines.
Assist in developing and refining menu items, as requested.
Monitor food inventory levels and communicate any shortages to the Manager.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a Line Cook or in a similar role within a casual dining environment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume kitchen.
Knowledge of various cooking techniques, food safety, and sanitation regulations.
Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
A passion for food and a desire to continuously learn and improve culinary skills.
